S.S. SAMALA (Liverpool) - WW2
The S.S. Samala was a British merchant ship from Liverpool sunk by the German submarine U-37 on September 30, 1940, during World War II. The vessel was attacked 300 miles west of Ireland. How dreadful to think that 68 seamen lost their lives transporting 1,500 tons of bananas.
