and whose names are on the Australian War Memorial Commemorative Roll
KETCH McLAREN KING - WW2
The Ketch McLaren King was a vital, small, wooden vessel used by Australian forces in World War II, notably in New Guinea for supply runs and participating in critical landings like the Battle of Goodenough Island, operating alongside larger ships to transport troops and supplies through challenging waters, even getting bombed by Japanese aircraft while delivering vital supplies. It served as an essential, versatile transport, highlighting the importance of smaller craft in Pacific island campaigns.

HONOUR ROLE
Francis Guise, a young half caste member of the Australian Board of Missions staff in New Guinea recently died of wounds received in action while serving
as an engineer in a merchantman.
He died at sea while being brought to hospital in Australia, and his name has been placed on the honour roll of the Australian Board of Missions.
The story is told in the A.B.M. Review's New Guinea Notes. Just before setting out on the voyage during which he was wounded Guise was highly commended by the O.C. of the New Guinea Force for being instrumental in saving the life of an airman whose plane had crashed into the sea near his ship.
Guise noticed the plane crash and drew the master's attention to it. The course of the ship was altered and the airman was rescued.
Another New Guinea 'boy' named David, who was a hospital orderly in Samarai for several years, has been accepted as 'medical adviser' by one Australian
camp in Papua. Nurses from New Guinea Mission fields are now in Australia, as the normal work of the dispensaries in Papua has been suspended.
