S.S. NORFOLK COAST (Liverpool)  -  WW1

On 18 June 1918, the Norfolk Coast was travelling in convoy from Rouen to Tyne in ballast when she was torpedoed without warning by a German U-boat and sunk immediately. At the time of the attack, the vessel was 23 miles SE from Flamborough Head. While the survivors of the attack were collected by escort vessel and landed at Middlesbrough and the Tyne, sadly eight of those on board lost their lives.
