S.S. CALYPSO  (Hull)  -  WW1

Calypso was a 2,876 GRT steam passenger/cargo ship (ref) completed in 1904 by Earle's Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. for T.Wilson, Sons & Co. Ltd. She is reported as was sunk on 11 July 1916 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-53 approximately 15 nautical miles West of Listafjord, Norway. She was en route from London to Christiana with a general cargo.  - benjidog.co.uk        There were no Survivors

CHRISTTANIA, Saturday.
Lifeboats, rafts, and wreckage have been blown ashore on the Norwegian coast, indicating that the British steamers Calypso and Aaro have been mined or submarined. It is feared that the (passengers and crews of both vessels have been lost.

Lifeboats, rafts, and wreckage have been washed ashore on the Norwegian coast, which indicate that the British steamers Calypso. 2258 tons, and Saros, 3207 tons, were either mined or submarined. It is feared that the passengers and crew have been lost.
