The SS Elisha Whitney was a US Maritime Commission N3-S-A2 type cargo ship built by Pennsylvania Shipyards, Inc. in Beaumont, Texas, and launched on October 31, 1943. It was operated by commercial firms, with some serving in the US Army's local fleet during World War II.
