S.S. ELISHA WHITNEY  -  WW2

The SS Elisha Whitney was a US Maritime Commission N3-S-A2 type cargo ship built by Pennsylvania Shipyards, Inc. in Beaumont, Texas, and launched on October 31, 1943. It was operated by commercial firms, with some serving in the US Army's local fleet during World War II.

Merchant Navy, killed in plane crash at Tacloban, Leyte, whilst being repatriated to Sydney, dearly loved husband of Dot, and dear father of Ron and Keith, of 395 Burns Rd., Lane Cove, dear brother of Nance, Canada, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Kilby of Enfield, brother-in-law of Harry, Enid, John and Jean, Cyril and Cassie. Interred Tacloban, November 17.
