S.S. ORCADES (London) - WW2
S.S. Orcades was sunk on 10 October 1942 by torpedoes fired by German submarine U-172 - about 280 miles North-West of Capetown. At the time of the attack she had over 1,000 passengers and troops on board. They were picked up by the Polish steamship Narwik.
