M.V.  MAMUTU (Hong Kong)  -  WW2

M.V. Mamutu was near Daru, New Guinea on 7 August 1942 when the vessel was shelled by Japanese submarine RO-33 and sank with the loss of 114 lives.

BRAZZILL.—At sea, due to enemy action, John Patrick, eldest son of the late John and Elizabeth Brazzill, late of Cascade Rd., Hobart.

Mr J. P. Brazzilll, of Hobart, an officer in a merchant ship, was killed in an enemy attack on his ship, according to advice received by his sister, Mrs W. Mundy, of Moonah. Mr Brazzill was a son of the late Mr and Mrs John Brazzill, of Cascades, Hobart. He served in the Royal Navy in the First World War.
