R.M.S. AORANGI  -  WW2

RMS Aorangi was at first chartered in October, 1939 to transport troops from New Zealand to Fiji; thereafter, she began transporting troops and airmen from Australia to Canada. However, finally, the British Ministry of War Transport decided to officially requisition her for war duties, and having been made ready, HMS Aorangi, now officially a troopship, departed Sydney for the United Kingdom
