S.S. Goathland  was sunk on 4 July 1917 by torpedo fired by German submarine U-84,- approximately 6 nautical miles South-South-East of Pointe du Skeul, Belle Ile. She was en route from St.Nazaire to the Gulf of Mexico in ballast
